communication that seeks to draw media attention to a specific event
or product launch. It is directed at members of the news media
for the purpose of announcing something claimed as having news value
and for letting the public know of
company developments. It may be mailed, faxed downloaded
or fed to assignment editors at newspapers, magazines, radio
stations, television stations, and/or television networks. Releases
are sometimes sent for the purpose of announcing news conferences.
